Hello Friends,
It's a pleasure to be a guest on your discussion forum. I've brought with me some information about the MACPA. We pride ourselves in the services and support that we offer working and aspiring CPAs in Maryland. Please review the information and the attached video links. Feel free to ask me questions about the MACPA and how membership may support or advance your career in accounting and finance. Remember, you don't have to be a CPA to join!

Thanks Richard for your offer to answer questions.
Do you have to be a resident to be a student member participate in the MACPA resources?
I understand that it is primarily set-up to help people residing in Maryland but is that a restriction?
Thanks |

Hi Mr. Rabicoff,
Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions. I just read something about the education requirements for the Maryland CPA exam changing. Do you know what those changes are, or where I can find more information?

You must be a resident (you or your parents have a MD address) or a student at a MD school (you can be from IL but attend a MD college), to be a member of our Tomorrow's CPA program. Note that if you have a MD address you could even be a student outside the state and be a member. |

The State of Maryland has now approved the revised requirements to sit for the CPA Exam. You still need 150 hours, but: there is more flexibility in how your apportion those credits. Requirements will take effect Jan. 1, 2008. The Board will begin accepting applications filed under the provisions on Jan. 2, 2008. For a detailed breakdown of the new requirements, go to the State Board site here, http://www.dllr.state.md.us/license/cpa/cpanewregs.htm. If you have questions, please contact the State Board cpa@dllr.state.md.us, |

Most of the continuing ed programs are for CPAs who need CPE (Continuing Professional Education). But they can be open to future CPAs and non-CPAs as well. |
